She was born, Emma-Dee Lane to Louie Robert and Gladys Mae Lane on September 30, 1928 in Hayes Center, Nebraska. She began her elementary education there and at the age of 9, the family moved to Idaho where they lived for a short time prior to moving to Oregon. They made their home in Boring where she finished her schooling and graduated from Gresham High School.
On July 23, 1948 she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Castle in Boring. Besides caring for her husband and children, she worked as a cook at Heidi’s in Boring and also as a Kindergarten teacher at Orient Drive Baptist Church where she was a longtime member until her passing.
Mrs. Castle loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed watching television game shows and would listen to them when she could no longer see details due to macular degeneration. In the late 1950’s, Emma-Dee volunteered her time and took care of the books for Orient Drive Baptist Church.
Surviving are her sons, Doug and Jeff Castle both of Sandy and Don Castle of Seward, Alaska; her daughters, Barbara Wunische of Rathdrum, Idaho and Teri Boldt of San Antonio, Texas; her brother Harry Lane of Boring; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Orient Drive Baptist Church.
