Jean was born, Erna Eugenia Remmich on June 22, 1926 in Streeter, North Dakota to Jacob and Magdalena (Fischer) Remmich. She was the 14th of their 17 children, and was raised and schooled in Streeter. She moved to Oregon in her teen years and lived with her eldest brother, Edward and his family. During a trip to Corcoran, California, Jean met her future husband Richard Wolfe. They were married on September 15, 1944. They began their family in North Dakota and later moved to Oregon, making their home in Portland. In 1957, the family moved to Sandy and began farming. In 1960, they moved to Boring where they opened and operated their family business, Dick Wolfe Meats. Jean’s husband passed away on March 31, 1991. Jean returned to Sandy that same year and lived there until 2007. When her health began to decline, she moved to Gresham to receive the care she needed.

Through the years, Jean was employed in various jobs, one of them being a housekeeper for local families. She was also the custodian at Orient Drive Baptist Church for 25 years, where she was a devoted and active member. She was sustained in life by her faith in her Lord and Savior, and found endless joy in her love for and care of children, through family, church, and community.

Jean is survived by her sons, Loren Wolfe of Gresham, David Wolfe and Dan Wolfe of Sandy; her daughters, Saundra Kitzmiller of Gresham and Kathy Huva of Goldendale, Washington; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; her brothers, Ervin Remmich of Chaska, Minnesota and Les Remmich of Sandy; and her sister, Orlean Timmen of Illwaco, Washington. Jean’s sister, Irene Weston, preceded her in death on the same day.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Orient Drive Baptist Church ~ P.O. Box 1930 Sandy, Oregon 97055.
