Former Boring resident Esther Marie Lundeen passed from this life to eternity from pneumonia with her family surrounding her on Friday July 3, 2009. She was 91.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday July 8th, 2009 from 4 to 7:00 PM at Sandy Funeral Home. Private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday July 9th, 2009. A Memorial Service will be held at Sandy Baptist Church Friday, July 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
Esther was born December 15, 1917 in Tabor, Idaho to Julius and Ida (Kirsch) Zink. The family moved to Portland when Esther was very young. She attended Sitton and Kellog elementary schools and then Roosevelt high school graduating in 1935. After graduation she went to Cosmetology school.
Esther married Richard E. Lundeen August 9th, 1946 and they moved to Estacada to a home that their fathers’ built for them. Esther and Richard had four children and she was a caring and devoted mother as well as a gifted homemaker.
Esther was a cook at Estacada High school for a few years during the 1960’s. She was and early member of Estacada First Baptist Church. She spent much of her time volunteering and helping others. Her hobby was helping others. She often prepared and served meals for people in need as well as sewing for others. Esther was a mother and friend to everyone that came into her life.
In 1976 after the children had grown they moved to “the farm” in Boring on Highway 211. Soon after, she and Richard started attending Sandy Baptist Church where she once again was always helping and serving. After moving to the farm Esther and Richard took on the job of parenting of their grandson Kale.
Esther was an energetic woman with a great sense of humor. She was filled with love and joy which overflowed onto family and friends.
Survivors include her husband Richard; daughters Annette Riesbick and Rebecca Esperson of Estacada, sons, Tim and Oscar of Boring; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
