Survivors include his wife Shila, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage; son Rick Hessler; grandson Mike Hessler; granddaughter Lisa Hessler; great-grandchildren Garrett and Madisyn; former wife, Frieda Tuttle.
Interment will be held at a later date at Cliffside Cemetery in Sandy, OR.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hoodland Fire District who provided assistance to Shila and Gene as needed while they lived on the mountain in the tight knit community of Welches. They are forever grateful for their service.
