Frances Elaine (Dibble) Hernandez passed away quietly surrounded by her family on March 19, 2022 after years of battling Alzheimer disease; she was 86 years old.
Frances was born January 9, 1936 to Mildred and Virgil Dibble and graduated from Sandy High School in 1954. She remained a resident of the Gresham area, while raising her 6 children. She had a saying in her kitchen that read “Before I got married I had six theories of raising children; now I have six children and no theories.”
She retired from Starkey Hearing Technologies and moved to Mexico with her current husband, after a couple years she returned to the Gresham area to be near her family and longtime friends. It was not uncommon for her children and grandchildren to pop in and spend the whole day in her garden or kitchen with her.
Fran, as she was called by those close to her, enjoyed gardening, sewing, socializing with friends and family, going to the beach, fishing, baking and dancing. Frances always had a way of making friends with everyone she met. She enjoyed baking an assortment of cookies each Christmas season with her grandchildren and making jelly and pickling with family members. Frances could always be counted on to sew blankets for the latest addition to the family and even developed a pattern for fitted cloth diapers. She was an excellent seamstress and would sew clothes for her children and even once made matching Christmas pajamas for her all grandchildren but, you had to keep her coffee cup full while she sewed for you.
Frances’s wonderful sense of humor and contagious laughter will be greatly missed.
Frances is survived by her current spouse Armando, her daughters Marie, Belinda, Renee and her sons Kenneth and Timothy along with her 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers, and her son James.
