Boring resident Franklin Martin (“Hop”) Cassidy died December 30, 2009 at the age of 88.
At Frank’s request no service will be held, however there will be a gathering of family and friends at Living Word Fellowship Church on Orient Dr. to honor his life on Friday January 8th, 2010 at 7:00PM.
Franklin was born in El Dorado Springs, Missouri on April 28th, 1921 to Harold James (“Jake”) and Edna Mae (Bishop) Cassidy. He was raised in in El Dorado Springs by his grandmother Agnes Cassidy Adams.
At the age of 23 Frank joined the Army Air Corps and served for three years during WWII. He married Dorothy L. Smith in 1942 and they started their family, eventually having four children. Dorothy died in 1972. In 1973 Frank married Velma W. (Helman) Kiser and gained two step children.
Frank lived in the Sandy, Boring, Gresham area for 53 years. He worked for Reynolds Metal for 30 years until his retirement in 1983.
Frank enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. His idea of heaven was Swede’s landing on the Snake River. His faith in God carried him through to the end of his life.
He is survived by his daughters; E. Carol Jones of Maupin and Loretta A. Colvin of Visalia, CA; son Doug Cassidy of Prineville, Glenn Fuller of Capitola, CA and Rocky Kiser of Boring; his sister Sammie Joann of Fort Worth, TX; 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his son Harold.
