Zig Zag resident, Gary Louis Kennedy died unexpectedly at his home on January 24, 2009.
A Memorial Service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland at 3:00 p.m. on Friday February 13th, 2009. In Gary’s honor, Tie-Dye attire is requested.
Gary was born to Nelson and Lola (Asay) Kennedy on April 16, 1945. The family stayed in Portland where Gary received his education graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1963. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
Gary loved traveling both in the United States and abroad. He was able to visit Spain, Holland and most recently, last year Egypt. He enjoyed the sport of fencing, first as an athlete and then as an assistant coach while he lived in Florida. Gary also loved sky-diving and was able to introduce the sport to many others. He was interested in Cirque de Soleil performances, many types of music, and animals, especially cats.
He was a gentle soul blessed with a big smile, many friends and artistic talent. He made many unique and beautiful Tie-Dye shirts.
Gary is survived by his brother, Jim Kennedy, his companion Yvonne Hanle, and his nieces Gail Keily and Heather Kennedy.
