Geneva Landwer VanEnde went to be with the Lord on June 10th, 2018. She was 2 months shy of her 93rd birthday.
Geneva was born in Barrington, Illinois on August 7, 1925. Her parents were Simon and Pearl Landwer and Geneva was their only child. She moved to Portland when she was 18 years old. Her parents owned and operated a small grocery store in Portland. Geneva met and married Paul VanEnde in 1946. They had three daughters, Christine Welling (married to Kirk), Patricia Spencer (married to Greg), and Nancy Bryant (married to Mack). Paul and Nancy both preceded her in death.
Geneva had a distinguished 30 year career with US National Bank. She helped open many branches, trained future executives and opened the Gresham Branch on Powell Blvd. She was known around Gresham as the “Cookie Lady,” baking and frosting sugar cookies for several local charities. In her spare time she loved to craft and sew with her 4 grandchildren, Renea Bedolla, Bryan Thomson, Dana Brekke and Mandy Thomson. All of the grandchildren have fond memories of hours spent creating with their grandmother “GG” in her basement. Geneva also has 5 great grandchildren and extended family Michelle Gonzalez, Christina Flores and Katrina Flores. Along with her husband Paul, Geneva was an active member of the Mt Hood Rock Club. Paul enjoyed digging and polishing rocks and Geneva enjoyed making his displays beautiful. The door was always open to anyone, human or canine, in the VanEnde home. In lieu of flowers, it was one of Geneva’s final requests to support her young friend and missionary student Jaime Lyn Knifong as she prepares for a 16 month mission in Kenya, Africa. Geneva loved Jesus and wanted to help make this dream possible.

Rest in peace Geneva. You are loved and missed.
