Obituary

The man who could only make friends, the dancer, the traveler, the musician, the poet, the lover of life, a wandering spirit, beloved son, brother and uncle, our Geoff departed his body early the morning of October 22 in his sleep. He had just returned from another of his travels, fulfilling a dream of surfing in Portugal and riding a motorcycle across Europe. “Living the Dream” was his motto and creed. One of the most reliably positive people ever.
Geoff entered many many lives from his post behind the bar at Charlie’s Mountain View on the slopes of Mt. Hood, his adopted homeland. He set out to house sit for a summer and stayed for 20 years.
His home base provided the ideal point of departure for his lifelong passion for travel, and the environment for his love of the outdoors. Too many times to count he hopped in his rig and set out for distant lands, to visit friends, to follow Phish, or to see more of the world. He retired two cars with over 400,000 miles each on the clock, and his current rig just passed 230,000.
He was a lover of music, both to making it and listening, and attended hundreds of concerts at every venue imaginable. He gave his nephew a drum set at age three and followed on with guitar, keyboards and enthusiasm. Everywhere he went, he made friends and rekindled old friendships; he was truly a citizen of the world and an ambassador of goodwill and love wherever he went.
Born in the Conch Republic of Key West, Florida, and a resident of Maryland, Michigan, Washington, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland. He was a proud Green Bay Packer fan and an alumnus of TASIS, Switzerland and the University of Washington.
He leaves behind his mother, Amy, brother Bill (Emily), nephew Alex, his German Shepherd companion Leyna-Sue, and thousands of friends around the world. The first celebration of his life will be held at the Cascade Ski Club in Government Camp at 1PM November 9th. His ashes will be returned to many places he loved. All are welcome to the celebration and we hope the occasion will be one of joy, not sadness

Geoff, you are still so dearly missed. It is hard to believe you left us three years ago. Your spirit, love of life, people and the world lives on in all of us. You continue to be an inspiration and you will forever be loved. -Bryan Rooney Bryan Rooney
I wanted to again send my personal condolences to Geoff's family. Geoff and I met in 2009 when we agreed to meet up in Alpharetta, GA to see PHiSH. I then transported him via ATL->Asheville->Charlotte so that we could see PHiSH. Geoff was great comrade, he was much more caring for anyone around him before he was with himself. I saw him around Labor Day of 2009 in Denver, and noticed a much different change. He was on a more organic, positive lifestyle. I was saddened to hear about his passing. I remember hearing he was headed to Atlantic City for Halloween (one of the hardest tickets of Phish's 3.0 stance), but obviously never made it.

I think about him every day, and ask him silently and out loud how I should direct my life. I feel him with me some of the time, I felt him speak to me this weekend when I lost my job.....
