In Loving Memory Of

Georga Ann Kissner

July 3rd, 1926 - April 20th, 2018

Obituary

Long time Sandy resident, Georga Ann Davis Kissner passed away peacefully in her home on Bluff Road, Friday, April 20, 2018 after being bed ridden for several weeks.  Georga was born to Goldie and Fred Davis July 3, 1926 in Hyattville, Wyoming.  She moved to Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Youngstown Ohio, Franklin, PA, Bountiful and Springville, Utah, Idaho Falls, ID and Portland, Or on her way to Sandy, OR.  She graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City, UT.  Her only sister, Trudy Backus passed away in 2009.  Georga married Frank J. Kissner in 1948 in Idaho Falls, ID.  They celebrated their 55th Anniversary in 2003 before Frank’s passing.

Georga worked as a secretary in many jobs, such as the Labor Unions, doctors’ offices and the Chamber of Commerce.  For the last 11 years of her working career, she was the Counseling Secretary at Sandy High School.  She retired in 1980 to be a full-time grandmother.

Her best job was raising her two children, Kathleen, born in 1953 and, David, born in 1960.  After moving to Sandy, OR in 1968, she and her husband, Frank cleared the land, designed and built their home finishing in 1972.  They named their home, “Nuestro Punto de Vista” – “Our Point of View.” This was a do it yourself project with a spectacular view of the Sandy River valley and Mt. Hood.  They enjoyed their home with family and friends often.

Georga gave time to her church, was a Kiwanis wife, enjoyed a ladies Bible Study for many years, and delivered Meals on Wheels for 13 years.  She was always quick with a phone call to encourage friends and family.  She enjoyed golf, bridge, oil painting and talking.  She had a great sense of humor and shared it regularly.  She and Frank loved traveling in their motor home and working on remodeling projects for their children.  Over the years, they were able to travel to Hawaii, Canada and Mexico with dear friends.  She loved keeping her grandchildren and always invented fun projects and special days with them.  She was never too tired to babysit, or attend a music concert. She was a loving, caring wife, Mom, grandmother and great grandmother (Gigi) that will be remembered in our hearts forever.

We, her family, want to express our love and gratitude to God for allowing us the blessings of being part of her legacy, and for giving her to us as a wonderful example of how to live life well.  She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Verdoorn and her husband, Leon; by her son, David Kissner and his wife, Dory; by her beloved grandchildren, Cody, Maria, Benjamin, Allanna; and her five great grandchildren, Aiden, Sophia, Isabella, Eli and Alexandra.  We will always treasure our memories and she will be greatly missed.  Georga said she would like to be remembered as a “happy camper” and that she loved her family and friends dearly.

Remembrances in lieu of flowers can be made to Mt. Hood Hospice, Sandy, OR.
