Gerald G. Nelson, loving husband and father, passed away peacefully on February 15th, 2021 at home at age 88 after a lifetime of community service. His contributions to the lives of many include serving with the Boring Volunteer Fire Department as well as his involvement with St. Michael's Catholic Church of providing assistance with Adoration, community dinners, Oktoberfest and the Altar Guild.
Jerry was born January 11, 1933 in Portland, Oregon to Sven and Lillian Nelson and grew up on their farm with his brothers, Clayton and Terry, and sister, Shirley Cochran. He graduated from Gresham High School and worked for Reynolds Alcoa for 39 years. On May 16, 1952 he married Joyce Lewallen. They were married 68 years and 9 months.
He is survived by his siblings, wife Joyce, daughter Marion, and his foster son, Richard Princeau as well as his grandchildren Robert Gasso and Brigette Lucus and great granddaughter Brealinn. He is predeceased by his foster son, Scott Gasso. An avid fan of the Trailblazers, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, bowling, motorcycles, driving in the snow and the company of his 3 puppies Lucky, Prince and Tobie.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michaels at a later date.
