In Loving Memory Of

Gertrude "Trudy" Helen Kehrli Meier Christensen

August 9th, 1926 - March 3rd, 2017

Obituary

Gertrude “Trudy” Kehrli Meier Christensen, long time Boring resident died March 3, 2017 at the age of 90.

Trudy was born in Gresham to Mike and Katharina (Roth) Kehrli, joining six brothers and sisters. Her parents were both immigrants from Switzerland. Her Swiss heritage was always important to her, making several trips to Switzerland, the last one with her children in 2012. She was a devout Christian from those early days and throughout her life. She graduated from Gresham High School in 1944. On March 3, 1945, she married Earl Meier and they made their home in Boring where they raised their five children.

As partners in Meier Dairy with his brother and wife, they both worked on the farm. They provided raw milk and other milk products to homes door to door, along with stores, hospitals, and schools. Earl passed away in 1984 while they were on a trip to Austria and Switzerland.

She married John Christensen in 1994. They enjoyed traveling and spending time in Arizona until his death in 2009. She always had a cheerful smile and sweetness, always sharing her love and strong faith with all. She was active with their farm business, Clackamas County Dairywomen, 4-H leader, hospital volunteer, her church and Rebekah lodge. The joy of her life was her family.

She is survived by her children Janet (Merritt) Schilling, Curt (Linda) Meier, Ken (Jackie) Meier, Colleen (Wayne) Taylor, and son-in-law Bob Bradner, 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands Earl and John, daughter Carol, daughter in law Annette and grandson Travis.

How I loved my Aunty Trudy! I'm so sorry Steve and I were out of state and couldn't attend her services. I know she is having a great celebration with her best friend in heaven, my mom, Arabel Meier Bennett! And I look forward to seeing them again, along with many others waiting for me there!
