Glenn Huber Haworth was born on January 4, 1923 in Centralia, Washington to Huber and Emma (Kominski) Haworth. At the age of a year and a half, Glenn’s mother passed away. As Glenn’s father was a traveling salesman, Glenn and his brother Ed were sent to live with their grandparents in Stanton, Oregon where they were both raised and received their schooling. Glenn was active in playing basketball, baseball and football throughout his high school years.
Four weeks after Pearl Harbor, Glenn entered the U.S. Navy. He served during WW II and Korea and was honorably discharged in 1953. On May 12, 1957, he was married to Norma Jane Gilbert in Vancouver, Washington. They made their home in Albany where they began their family and Glenn owned and operated along with his brother, Midway Tavern. Glenn later left the business and returned to his professional trade as a welder. In 1966, he joined the UA Local #290. Due to Glenn’s employment as a welder, the family traveled throughout the United States on many projects. After retiring in 1984, Glenn and Jane traveled the western United States in their RV for several years. In 1998 they settled in Boring where they lived with their daughter and family.
In Glenn’s younger years, he loved to fish, hunt, 4-wheeling and gardening. After retirement, he devoted his time to playing golf and was a member of Mt. View Golf Course, playing 18 holed 2-3 times a week and enjoyed every moment of it. He was also a life member of the Elks BPOE Lodge #359 in Albany.
His wife, Norma, preceded him in death in 2002. Surviving are his daughters, Heather Uhl of Boring and Candace Haworth of Fairfield, California; his grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, Teresa and Julie. He is preceded in death by his wife Norma Jane in June of 2002.
