Rhododendron resident, Gordon Hiltbruner, died at his home on Thursday, August 20, 2009. He was 72.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Sandy Funeral Home.
Gordon Lauren Hiltbruner was born September 3, 1936 in Seattle Washington to Lauren and Nancy (Sharp) Hiltbruner. He served in the US Army from 1953 until 1960 during the Korean Conflict. During his time in the Army, he married Marilee Thiel on March 30, 1959 in Spanaway, Washington. They moved to the Mt. Hood area in 1968. Gordy owned and operated Lolo Pass Lumber Company form 1968 until 1990 working as a Horse Logger and running a shake mill. From 1990 – 2009 he served in the US Merchant Marines.
Survivors include his wife Marilee (Mary) of Zig Zag, Oregon; son, Jessie Hiltbruner of Zig Zag, Oregon; daughter Mrs Lyone Critser of Beaverton, Oregon; grandchildren, Mellissa Rabie, Kari Rabie, Becky Rabie all of Portland and many good friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Lauren in 1982.
