Gresham resident Helen Lambert, died in a Portland hospital on June 6, 2011 of complications from infection. She was 80.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 10, at Sandy Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Helen was born Helen Jean Johnson on May 14, 1931 in Lankford, South Dakota to James H. and Myrtle (Erickson) Johnson. As a young girl, the family moved to Oregon and lived in the Portland area where she was raised and received her schooling. She attended Rockwood Elementary and Gresham High School where she was a cheerleader. Helen later was married and lived in both the Sandy and Gresham. She worked at Lipmans Department Store, as a nurse’s aide, a property manager and at the Navy Commissary in Hawaii.
Helen in her younger years loved to play softball. More recently, she enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing cards, going to the casino and winning. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Helen was a lifetime member of the Sandy V.F.W. Post #4273 Ladies Auxiliary.
Throughout her childhood, she worked in the fields with her family which in turn developed her into a stronger woman.
Surviving is her son Dan Anderson of Milwaukie; her sister, Delores Moser of Lake Oswego; her grandson, Troy Anderson of Milwaukie; her step children, Chris and Cathy; her step brother, Ron Gayken of Gresham and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Lambert who just passed on May 3, 2011, her son David, her brothers, James, Gordon and Donald and step-sisters, Barbara Coons and Margie Gibbs.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice.
