Howard DeVon Slack passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Sandy, Oregon. He was 70 years old.
Howard was born in Albany, Oregon on December 5, 1952, to DeVon Calvin Slack and LouJean Belle Slack, the first of their three children. Howard spent his childhood in Albany, Oregon.
While growing up Howard enjoyed spending time with his parents and siblings visiting their grandparents in Utah and having fun at the Oregon beaches.
In 1969 the family moved to Lincoln City where Howard graduated from Taft High School in 1972.
Howard had a love of old cars and driving them fast. He loved his Chevy Corvair.
He enjoyed the annual Father's Day fishing and camping trips with his daughter. One of his favorite places to be was next to a lake with a fishing pole in his hands.
Howard met Diane in 1998 and they married in 2004. They enjoyed spending time with their dog Sophie and watching TV in their home.
Howard lived his life by the quote "The measure of a man is how he takes care of his children." He worked 2 jobs for most of his life to support his family.
Howard's love for the Lord was reflected in his service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Diane, his two daughters: Amy Searls and Jennifer Mayes (Joshua), two grandchildren Logan and Sierra, mother LouJean Slack, brother Greg Slack (Mary) and sister Tamera Slack, one nephew and two nieces. He was preceded by death by his father DeVon Slack.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00am at the Sandy Church of Latter Day Saints located at 16317 SE Bluff Rd, Sandy, Oregon 97055. There will be a viewing at 10:00am. Howard will be laid to rest at 1:30pm at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery, 34260 OR-211, Boring, OR 97009.
