Hugo was born in Clover, Idaho April 9, 1922. He graduated from the 8th grade in Eden, Idaho in 1937. Most of his young life was spent working on the family farm.
He joined the Army on October 13, 1942 and serviced our country in Europe, in the Quarter Master Corp. Upon his return to Boring he returned to work in many different jobs until he went to work for Reynold’s Aluminum in the Troutdale Production Plant for over 30 years. He retired in 1984.
Hugo married Lucile V. (Wagner ) of Gresham, on June 26, 1969 and they lived in Gresham. Hugo had always been a man of the Earth and was very
Good at tending God’s many treasures and created a (Bloomin Acre) on their property.
They both enjoyed the bounty of his efforts and the obvious green thumb. Many people
and neighbors would turn to him for advice and would stop and take pictures of the
Bloomin Acre.
Hugo had lived at Fairlawn Village with his wife in the care center, and he in his cottage.
He would walk over daily and they would go to the game room and read papers and he would work on puzzles. Some times they would not even talk much, but they were together.
Hugo was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sandy and was among the founding builders. This was their Church Home and they both were very proud to serve. Together they would provide flowers, for functions
and he tended the lawn and flower beds for years. They started the annual paper drive and would draft people to help in the effort.
Hugo is survived by 4-brothers and 1-sister Erhart, Happy Valley, Rueben, Gresham, Eugene, Purrump, Nev. Ed,Hillsboro, & Elva, Riverton, Wy. Hugo also openly adopted in his heart all the 7-grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
He never had any of his own, but he was really good at it. They loved him and he them.
We would like to remember Hugo as a loving sometimes mis-understood simple guy with a great heart and a huge love for God and his country.
