Former Estacada resident, Irene Keck died peacefully at her home in Portland with her family by her side on Monday, July 17, 2017. She was 95.
She was born, Irene Josephine Keck on February 1, 1922 in Troy, Kansas and was one of 9 children. She was raised and received her schooling in Kansas and her father worked in the oil fields.
Irene was married and had 6 children.
In 1963, Irene moved to Oregon and made her home in Estacada. In 2001, she moved to Portland to live with her daughter and family.
Surviving are her children, Joseph Abbett, Louise Ibey, Jean Owings, David Abbett and Robert “Bob” Abbett; 2 brothers, Herbert “Herb” Keck and Roy “Jr.” Keck; 1 sister, Lena Hunter, 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren; her longtime companion Arvin Grue. She is preceded in death by her son Roland “Lee” Abbett, her grandsons, William “Paul” Abbett and Roland “Lee” Abbett Jr.
