Jack Lyle Koken passed away August 8, 2009 at his home in Sandy. He was 78 years old.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Sandy Baptist Church Monday, August 17, 2009. A reception will follow the service.
Jack was born March 6, 1931 in Yakima, Washington to Raphael and Clara (Ames) Koken. He was raised there and graduated from Yakima High School in 1949.
After graduation Jack headed to Oregon. He was married to Faye Marie O’Mohundro on September 3, 1950. They lived in Ashland and owned and operated an Upholstery and Drapery shop. Jack attended night school at Southern Oregon College studying accounting and corporate tax law. They also started their family and were blessed with two daughters, Pam and Laura by 1956.
Jack and Faye Marie moved to the Medford area in 1977 where Jack worked as an accountant for Lithia motors. He retired from there in 1981 and went into partnership in Coastal Dynamics. Later, he served as the V.P. / Financial Officer for Judson Baptist College in The Dalles. In 1985 they moved to Gresham where Jack worked for Western Food Equipment Inc. In 1986 he semi-retired doing consulting and installation of computers for various automotive dealerships in Portland. He finally completely retired in 1999 and he and Faye Marie moved to Sandy.
Surviving is Jack’s wife Faye Marie; his daughters Pam Koken of Portland; Laura Mortensen of Atlanta, Georgia and brother Morris Koken of Castle Rock, Washington.
