James Edward Tinker passed away on December 15, 2010 at his home in Sandy, Oregon after a year long battle with lymphoma. He was 55.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sandy.
Jim was born on January 29, 1954 in Portland, Oregon to Robert and Eileen (Smith) Tinker. The family remained in Portland where Jim received his education, graduating from Grant High School. After high school he spent 2 years at the University of Oregon. He worked at a variety of jobs ending up at North Coast Seed Company which led him into the lawn and garden industry. He worked for L & L Nursery in their sales department for over 20 years and then went to work for EB Stone selling organic soils and garden products.
In August of 1979 Jim married Kim Hennessy. They lived in Brightwood for a couple years and then moved to Sandy where they have lived ever since. In 1981 their son Seth was born.
Jim love to stay at home and do wood working. He was a fabulous chef and the world’s best handyman.
He is survived by his wife Kim and son Seth; brothers, Tom Tinker of Yakima WA, Paul Tinker of Portland, George Tinker of Seattle, WA, John, and Bob Tinker both of Portland; sisters, Robin Carnes of Olympia, WA, Tony Maxwell of Bellevue, WA and Terri Stocker of Portland. Jim also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
