Lifelong Sandy resident, Jim Morgan passed away at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham on Oct. 8, 2014. He was 83. Memorial Services were held Oct. 12, 2014 at Sandy Funeral Home in Sandy and a private burial was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
James Wilbur Morgan was born in Gresham, Oregon on the Morgan family farm to Fredrick and Dora Morgan on November 26, 1930. He attended Lusted Grade School and graduated from Sandy High School class of 1948.
Jim lived and worked on the family farm throughout his life. He married Helen “Shorty” Shook and built their home on the farm where they still live today. Jim and his brother, Fred operated Glendale Farms as a dairy farm until the late 1970s, after which the brothers started a nursery and trucking business. He continued to work around the farm and drive his truck until his death and was a longtime board member for Clackamas County Bank in Sandy.
Jim enjoyed traveling to Maui with Shorty and taking trips with other couples to places like Las Vegas and Disneyland. He and his daughter, Dori took a trip of a lifetime to Austria, Germany and Switzerland where they visited local farms. He very much enjoyed the trip and spoke about it often.
He is survived by his wife, Helen and daughter Dori Morgan of Sandy. Jim was an animal lover and his wishes were to honor his memory with donations to Dove Lewis Animal Hospital. He will be missed by many.
