Jim was born in Albany, OR to James Herman & Roberta Louise Finch. Jim has joined his parents, his older sister Virginia Finch Cutsforth & younger brother Jerry Lee Finch in Heaven.
The Finch Family moved to a farm in Willamette, OR along the Willamette River close to the Historic Willamette Falls. When Jim was 18, he graduated from West Linn High School in 1958. One week later, he married his high school sweetheart, Judith Ann Laurs. They were married in Jim's parent's home on Friday, June 13, 1958. Jim & Judy were married 60 years.
Jim & Judy Finch lived in Gladstone, OR while raising their 4 children. Jim and his family were members of Gladstone First Baptist Church. For 28 years, Jim was employed by United Grocers in Milwaukee, OR. Jim was a printer and graphic artist. At the same time throughout Jim's career, he also worked evenings as a part-time cashier at the Gladstone Ray's Market and later on on The Big E Market. Jim was a loving, faithful husband, and a remarkable father and grandfather. He worked extremely hard so he and his wife could take their children on camping trips and recreational day trips.
After Jim and Judy raised their kids, they moved to Welches, OR. By then, Jim was already employed at his favorite job, Nursing Home Ministries. Jim was a nursing home chaplain in Milwaukee, OR. Jim enjoyed leading church services. He played his guitar & led worship. Also he shared God's encouraging Word with the residents. After services, Jim visited those who were bedridden and loved each one. His desire was to share the Gospel of Jesus' gift of salvation to all who believe.
Jim enjoyed his highlight years with Judy in Welches. He was a member of The Church on the Mountain. They lived in a cozy cottage in the woods. He enjoyed many friends who he considered as family.
Jim's hobbies were camping, fishing, hunting, going on adventures with his wife and family. He was talented at playing various musical instruments and had a beautiful singing voice. Jim loved reading Louis L'Amour books & watching classic westerns.
Jim's survivors are his wife, Judy A. Finch; his 4 children Jim D. Finch of Bend, OR; Tim T. Finch (Dona Finch) of Milwaukie, OR; Tammy T. Carr (Anthony Carr) of Junction City, OR; & Tom Finch of Sandy, OR. Jim leaves 13 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren.
