Welches resident, James Robert Woldrich, died on September 21, 2017 at home. He was 77.
James was born on October 5, 1939 to Theresa (Vandenberg) and Frank Woldrich in Portland. James was raised in Portland, where he attended Central Catholic High School and graduated in 1958. Prior to entering the U.S. Army, he served a plumbing apprentice in Portland. On January 15, 1962, James entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Colorado Spring Springs where he met and later married June Snodderly on June 22, 1963. James was honorably discharge in January of 1968 and returned to Portland with his wife and began his career as a plumber. The family lived in the Gresham area as well as Estacada for a time prior to moving to Welches.
James raised cattle and sheep as well as farmed. He enjoyed playing cribbage and bowled in a league with his wife. He was also active in the Welches Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife June Woldrich of Welches, Oregon; daughter, Tracy Pharris of Redmond, Oregon; sons Brian Woldrich of Welches, Oregon, Jason Woldrich of Welches, Oregon; grandson Mathew Pharris of Portland, Oregon; granddaughter Samantha Johnson of Bend, Oregon; brothers Ronald Woldrich of Woodland, California and John Woldrich of Portland, Oregon; and his sister Carolyn Wharton of Portland, Oregon.
