James "JVC" Carl of Gresham was born on June 1, 1954 to military parents in Cambridge, England. He was raised in Portland and was a 25 year veteran of the Gresham Police Department. James retired in January of 2006 and worked as a fire investigator until September of 2011. He married his wife Polly in 1978, and they had twin daughters Kelsie and Rae in 1982. Jim was an elder at Cornerstone Church in Gresham and was passionate about serving his community and the people around him.

Survivors include his wife, his daughters and his brother George, of Portland.

My sincere sympathy to the family and friends of James. The loss of our dear loved ones can be very difficult and distressing to cope with. True comfort comes from our Creator's ( Psalm 83 : 18 - God's name - Jehovah ) own loving words to us : Revelation 21 : 3-5; Acts 24 : 15; Psalms 37 : 10,11, 29 ; 1 Corinthian 15 : 26. I hope these few scriptures help to soothe your hearts and bring you comfort, peace and a hope. Sincerely Ginger
