In the early morning of Friday, February 18, 2022, Jane Vietti, passed from this earth and entered Heaven, quietly in her sleep. She was 90.
Born in New York City on November 29, 1931, Jane was the youngest of three children. She and her sister joined their father in Reno, Nevada, in 1946, where she attended Reno High school. She enjoyed competing on the High School ski team and other extracurricular activities. It was there she met and later married the love of her life, Paul Vietti.
Paul and Jane raised 7 children in Elko, Nevada, where they owned and operated Vietti Electric Company. Once their nest was empty, they relocated to Arizona where they enjoyed their retirement with lots of travel, built wonderful friendships and explored many creative hobbies. Jane’s favorite hobby was reading and volunteering many hours at her church.
On her 90th birthday Jane, surrounded by family and friends at her church in Happy Valley, declared that it was the best birthday she’d had in her whole life. She had a wonderful time fondly remembering and sharing memories of her childhood, competitive skiing, and her trip to New York via train with 5 children, ages 10 and under. Much laughter was shared as she told about the gift of live baby crocodiles her mom sent, and about spitting peas into her grossmutter’s shoes.
Jane experienced a heart attack a week after her birthday party and was told by her cardiologist that “People who have experienced what just happened to you do not even make it to the emergency room. You have been given a gift.” She used that gift very well and spent the last weeks of her life connecting with her children and grandchildren, sharing memories and most importantly telling each one what she loved about them and that she hoped to see them someday in Heaven.
Jane is survived by her sons, Mark, Tony, Jon and Jim and daughters, Teri and Amy. She has 10 grandsons and 6 granddaughters, 2 great-granddaughters and 12 great-grandsons.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her bother and sister, her son Tom, and her grandson Anthony.
Her children will be planning a memorial sometime this summer.
In-lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane’s name to Mt. Hood Hospice, PO Box 1269, Sandy, OR 97055.
