Boring resident Janet Rivera Seamons went home to be with the Lord on Monday October 18, 2010 at the age of 81.
A funeral service was held at Sandy Funeral Home on Friday, October 22 at 1:00 PM. Burial was at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery in Clackamas.
Janet was born on April 2, 1929 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Santiago and Angelina (Ayala) Rivera. She was raised in Hawaii and as a young girl was a survivor of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
In 1954 she moved to California where she worked at Suburban Hospital in South Gate. Two years later while she was filling her brand new car at the gas station she met her future husband Darwin Seamons. It was love at first sight for Darwin and he and Janet were wed on April 2, 1959 in Lynnwood, CA.
Janet worked in the medical field. She was very talented and over time became a well respected surgical nurse. Eventually Janet chose to retire from medicine and start a family. She and Darwin had two children. They remained in California raising their family. In September 2003 Janet and Darwin moved to Oregon where they continued enjoying retirement.
One of Janet’s hobbies was breeding birds. At one time she had about 1000 parakeets. She also had a passion for gardening and just about every time she went shopping she brought home a new plant to add to her gorgeous yard. She loved her dog Tiffany as well as going on drives with Darwin.
Janet was always loving and ready to help, never asking for anything in return. She always put everyone else’s needs before her own.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years Darwin; son Gary Seamons of La Habra, CA; daughter Darlene Seamons of Sandy, OR; three grandchildren and one great grandson.
