Longtime Estacada resident, Jan Hanks died on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Providence Medical Center in Portland. She was 77.
A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Private Entombment will be held at River View Abbey in Portland.
She was born, Janice Wesley Price to James and Iola (Clifford) Price on March 9, 1932 in Portland. She was raised and received her schooling in Portland and attended Washington High School.
In March 9, 1977, she was united in marriage to Ervin Hanks. They made their home in Estacada where they raised their family.
Jan loved spending time with her family, dancing, singing, playing the piano and organ, showing dogs, riding horses, taking trips to Las Vegas, talking on the phone to her family and friends and was a Jr. Rose Festival Princess.
Surviving is her husband Ervin; her children, Dawn Nelson of Cornelius, Ken Smith of Sandy, Rebecca Howland of Happy Valley, Tyrone Hanks of Sandy and Tonya Eisert of Sandy; her sister Mary Engle of Portland; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Oregon Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
