January Kay Moore- Born Oct. 1st, 1961 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Born to Baxter & Juanell Moore.
Jan grew up on a ranch in Alfalfa, a small farming community east of Bend, Oregon, along with her two brothers Jay and Jesse. She attended first through fourth grades in a 2-room schoolhouse in Alfalfa. From there she rode the bus 25 miles to Redmond, Oregon for fifth grade through high school.
Jan belonged to 4H, raising and training Angus bull calf, as well as, raising and showing rabbits. She won ribbons for this.
Jan worked in veterinary clinics, pets stores, the garden department at Fred Meyer, and at a Golf Course as a greenskeeper. Jan was very tenderly hearted towards animals of all sorts, but most definitely cats and horses. She was an animal whisperer; she could relate to them. She was also, and most passionately, a free spirited artist. Jan was constantly drawing, painting, making jewelry, or carving. She began drawing as soon as she was able to pick up a pencil, pen, or crayon. Her concept of animal form was as precise as a photograph. It was all from memory.
Although, they had known each other since 1982, Dan and Jan’s love story began in October of 2007. Over the years they were hardly separated and able to build a home together. They also enjoyed traveling. Jan helped raise, love, and care for his daughter Linzi.
On the morning of April 8th 2019, Jan passed away at home in Zigzag, Oregon.
Survivors of Jan include her loving parents Juanell and Baxter, her brothers & sister-in-laws Jay & Annie, and Jesse & Anna, their Daughter Cassie, Her uncle Terry, and Her life partner Dan and Her step-daughter Linzi. Jan will be greatly missed by her family and all they knew her.
