Long time Sandy resident Jerry Lawson Sr. passed away on March 2, 2020, at home with his wife and son by his side. He was 84 years old. Jerry’s memorial will be held in conjunction with his wife, Dodie on Monday, October 9th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandy Funeral Home. Jerry was laid to rest with his family by his side at Cliffside Cemetery. No service could be held due to covid.
Jerry Lee Lawson, Sr. was born to Stewart and Edna Lawson in Springfield, Missouri, on March 13, 1935. He was one of 6 children. The family moved to Sandy and Jerry attended and graduated from Sandy Union High School in 1953.
He married Dodie Predmore on February 8, 1963 and settled in Sandy. Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing and tormenting his grandkids. You could find Jerry sitting by the fire pit, messing in his shop, horseback riding or playing the banjo at his home in Sandy. He was a Sandy icon and helped get the Sandy Museum going and sold real estate alongside Phil Jonsrud for many years.
He is survived by his children, Cindy Seematter Switzer of Beavercreek, Nick Seematter of Sandy and Jerry Lawson, Jr. of Oregon City; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Edna Lawson, and 2 brothers, Bert and Mickey and 2 sisters, Marion and Evelyn.
