Jim Kiggins, a husband, father and provider has gone home to be with the Lord. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Gresham, OR. Jim grew up in Springwater, south of Estacada and graduated with the “Class of 49” from Estacada High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1954. He worked for PGE and retired from there in 1993. Prior to PGE, he worked for a grass seed farmer and before that he worked at his uncle’s Chevron gas station in Estacada. It was while he was working at the Chevron station that he met his wife, Esther. Esther was a “car hop” at the A & W next to the gas station. Through Esther’s influence while they were dating, Jim came to know the Lord. Esther had 3 children, Vickie, Jim and Penny. Jim & Esther were married in 1962 moved to Springwater and together, they raised the children. Jim was a wonderful husband and father. In 1986, Jim & Esther moved to Gresham to be closer to the kids and grandkids. Jim & Esther served the Lord together faithfully and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2011. Jim’s greatest asset was his love of people and his sense of humor.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife Esther Kiggins, his 3 children, Vickie Proctor, Jim Wilson, and Penny Wilson. Jim had 4 grandchildren, Kendall Palmer, Emily Porter, Jason Wilson and Megan Elliott. He also had two great grandchildren, Bridget Palmer and Aliya Wilson. Jim is survived by his brother Murray of Hood River.
There will be a Celebration of Life on January 28th at Grace Community Church 800 SE Hogan Rd. Gresham, OR 97080.
