Joanne Anderson quietly passed away at the age of 88 on August 8, 2022. She was born on April 8, 1934 to George and Charlotte Schantin. She grew up in the Portland area, where her father ran a Harley Davidson dealership. Joanne went to Mills college in the Bay area to obtain her teaching degree. Her job as a school teacher, afforded her opportunities of many summer trips abroad and around the country. When at home she enjoyed skiing on Mt. Hood.
In 1968, Joanne met Ron, who had just moved into her apartment complex. They were married in 1969 and bought property in Sandy overlooking the Sandy River valley constructing their home together, along with her father in law. They were joined by Ron’s daughters Megan and Barb. Their son, Mike was born in 1971, and daughter Jody joined the family in 1974. They continued finishing the house as their children grew. They built many wonderful memories in the 51 years they lived in their home.
Joanne loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was camping, exploring the NW, or hosting family gatherings. Joanne enjoyed sewing and was a longtime bowling league member in the Gresham/Portland area. She was also an avid volunteer who helped at the senior center and with meals on wheels.
