John Alexander Rodden passed away on January 4, 2022, with his mother and sister at his side. He was 59. His kind heart and infectious laughter will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
John was born on November 29, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois, to William and Anna Rodden. After the family moved to Oregon, John attended Margaret Scott Grade School before moving to Sandy where he continued his education.
Shortly after high school, John began working in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator. He loved his work and chose it for his lifelong career both as an employee and as a business owner.
In June of 1983, John married Jacqui Pullen who was also raised in Sandy. They welcomed three sons: John Jr. in 1983, Timothy in 1985, and Elijah in 1986. Although the couple’s marriage ended in divorce, they continued to remain close.
When John married Lesa Dibble in February of 1994, he gained another son (Dayne Dibble), and the couple’s son, Billy, was born in 1997.
John loved his children dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. His sons and their cousins fondly remember his childlike zest for life—the adult in their childhood who was always willing to drop everything and be a kid.
They especially looked forward to camping with the whole family every summer at Lake Billy Chinook where John made sure the kids had a great time fishing, boating, and playing in the water.
He will be forever loved and missed by his mother, Annie; his sisters, Annette (Rick) and Renee; his brother, Dave; his ex-wives, Jacqui and Lesa, his sons, Timmy, Elijah, Dayne and Billy; and his three grandchildren, Gracelyn, Maze and Ariana.
John was preceded in death by his father, Bill; his sister, Elizabeth; his brothers, Bill Jr and Bob; and his son, John Jr.
John was laid to rest at Cliffside Cemetery beside his infant son, Johnny, in a private family ceremony on February 8, 2022.
A Celebration of John’s Life will take place from 12:30 to 5:00 on April 30th at the Meinig Memorial Park gazebo in Sandy.
