Our beloved John passed away of natural causes on January 5,2022.
John was born on a sunny March day in Portland, Oregon. He was
raised in a home on the banks of the Clackamas River. It was there he
found his love of nature and the outdoors. John attended Redland
Elementary School and David Douglas High School and formed
friendships that he carried with him throughout his life.
John worked as a Tool & Die Maker for TVT Die Casting, Precision
Interconnect, and later Steven’s Tool & Die. He also took pride in his
own tooling business in Oregon City.
Always an adventurer, no challenge was too big. His greatest love was
skiing with his friends, hiking with his son Geoffrey, and spending time
outdoors with his wife Jodi. As a child, John always enjoyed being in the
outdoors with his family and that stayed with him his entire life.
He was a wonderful son, brother, father and husband. It would be next to
impossible to love anyone more than we love our John.
John leaves behind his wife Jodi and son Geoffrey Shumway, both of
Oregon City. Sisters Catherine Anderson and husband Ezra of
Damascus Oregon, Christine Herrle and husband Ryan of Portland
Oregon. Mother and Father, Sally and David Shumway, of Woodburn
Oregon.
A Memorial Service will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers,
please make donations to Mt Hood Ski Patrol.
