John Nicholas York, Jr. resided in Boring, Oregon and passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 16, 2015 at home at the age of 86 years under the care of his two sons, Lawrence and Lewis York.
John was born in Wildwood, Missouri on May 20, 1928 and lived there until he joined the Army. He served in Korea for two years and after his service worked at a tile manufacturing plant in Chicago Heights, Illinois where he met Virginia Fuller. They married on October 8, 1949 in Steger, Illinois.
After they married, they lived in Illinois where they began their family. In 1956 the family moved to Vida, Missouri and resided there for 7 years until moving to Boring, Oregon in 1963 where they made their permanent home and raised their family.
To support his family, John worked as a hardwood floor layer in construction for more than fifty years. In addition, he had a family berry farm on their property in Boring.
After Virginia passed away in 1989, John married Karen Lyons in 1991. They resided in Gresham, Oregon and divorced in 2009.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, golfing, trips to Reno and Spirit Mountain, and spending time with his family.
Surviving is John’s sister, Jane Rickerson, Gresham, Children: Robert York, Sandy, Gloriana York, Troutdale, Pamela Snyder, Troutdale, Lawrence York, Boring, Lillian Lund, Boring, John York III, Happy Valley, Lewis York, Boring, and Stuart York, Gresham; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
