In Loving Memory Of

John Slocum McKenzie

September 23rd, 1959 - March 31st, 2021

Obituary

Longtime Sandy resident, John McKenzie, died in his sleep on the night of March 31st 2021. He was 61.

John was born on September 23rd, 1959 in Biloxi, Mississippi. He moved to Portland in his young adulthood, where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. After his service he began a successful career as a manager and award-winning car salesman at many dealerships in the Portland metro area.

During a night on the town, he met Kay, and he invited her to a party where he surprised her with flowers and asked her out on a date. They have been together ever since. John was married to Kay, the love of his life, for 28 years. They had four children together: Secret, Kayla, Jonathen, and Dakota. He also was a step-father to Kay's two older children, Tom and April. He also had two children from a previous marriage, twins Melissa and Melinda.

He is survived by his wife and 8 children, 5 grand-daughters, three sisters, one brother, and extended family.

John always had a joke or story to tell, and greeted everyone with his vibrant smile. He moved his family to Sandy 20 years ago and loved his community.

John was a family man through and through and always did everything he could to take care of them. He will be remembered.

Dear Johnny, I wish in this lifetime we would of had more time to spend together, the only quality time we had together is when daddy brought you with him to visit us in Oregon, I was 13 years old. Wow that was along time ago, but I still remember all the stories you told me. I guess in this lifetime our paths were not meant to pass again. Fly like the eagles and soar in the wind my brother. I know in the spirit world we will join. With daddy and all , Little Leaf Darleena Rae Mckenzie Darleena Rae Little Leaf Mckenzie
We will miss you, Dad. Love you so much. April Alexander
