Sandy resident, Josie Splawn died on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at her home. She was 75.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home.
She was born Josie Grace Osborne on April 13, 1934 to Willet and Margaret (Stewart) Osborne in Mitchell, Oregon where she was raised and received her schooling. She was the youngest of 10 siblings.
In 1951, Josie was married to Donald Frazier. They had one son, Gary. They lived in Central Oregon until 1957, when they moved to Gresham. In 1965 they were divorced.
Josie worked in the restaurant industry and was employed at Ruby’s Tavern and The Gresham Inn where she met her future husband Floyd.
On January 4, 1980, Josie was united in marriage to Floyd Splawn. One year later they moved to Sandy where they made their permanent home and operated Floyd’s Fine Foods until selling the business. Josie was currently working as a private in-home cook.
Josie was a great cook and a hard worker, making huge dinners for holidays, birthdays and special occasions. She always had fresh baked chocolate chip cookies which was almost always made the cookie jar the “first stop” for her family. She spent hours on the phone every night with her sister Jessie, her many nieces and nephews and friends.
Surviving is her husband Floyd Splawn of Sandy; her son Gary Frazier of Sandy; her step sons, Wayne Splawn of Camas, Washington and Noel Splawn of Vancouver, Washington; her sister Jessie Harris of Terrebone, Oregon; 1 grandson, Joshua; 1 granddaughter Ciera; 4 great grandchildren, Max, Zach, Halo, and Jet; 2 step granddaughters, Julie and Logan; 2 step grandsons, Loren and Matt and 1 step great grandson, Julian. She is preceded in death by her grandson Nicholas earlier this year; and her 8 brothers, Elmer, Delbert, Virgil, Raymond, Walt, Robert, Marion and Ersel.
Josie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
