Lifetime Sandy resident, Joyce E. Burdick died peacefully at her daughter’s home in Lake Oswego on April 30, 2020. She was 82.
Joyce was born on December 23, 1937 to Otto and Elsie Spaller. She was raised in Sandy and graduated from Sandy High School. Joyce married Ken Burdick on February 26, 1955. Joyce and Ken raised their 3 children in Sandy. Joyce spent her entire career as a school secretary for the Sandy School District. She worked at Sandy Grade and Firwood Elementary where she made many lifelong friends.
Joyce’s family was everything to her. Joyce enjoyed traveling both near and far and would always be up for an outing. She looked forward to family gatherings and particularly traveling to Reno every summer for the Hot August Nights classic car show.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Swails (Kurt) of Lake Oswego, son Jamey Burdick of Sandy, grandson Justin Burdick (Juliana), great granddaughters Jocelyn and Jaycee of Sandy, sister Janet Fox (Ben) of Milwaukie, and very special nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Ken in 1987 and her son Jeffrey in 2017.
A private family viewing will be held at Sandy Funeral Home and a private graveside service to follow at Cliffside Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
