Longtime Boring Resident Joyce L. Linhart passed away at her home on Saturday September 24th 2016, she was 80.
A Memorial Service will be held at Sandy Funeral Home, Tuesday October 4th, 2016 at 1:00pm. Immediately following the Memorial, there will be a Graveside Service at Cliffside Cemetery in Sandy. Following the Services, there will be a Celebration of Joyce's Life at Sandy Assembly of God, 39800 E. Hwy 26 Sandy, Oregon 97055 at 3:30pm. The Celebration will be held in the Lower part of the Church, with potluck food and beverages.
She was Born Joyce Levern Jones, to Marion Earl and Susie Alice Jones, on October 5th 1935 in Chickashaw, Oklahoma in Grady County. Joyce was the youngest of 9 Children. In 1939 the family left Oklahoma and moved to Bakersfield, California where the Family Resided in California for about a year, before moving to Sandy, Oregon in 1940. The family lived in Sandy for a year until her oldest brother was drafted into the Military, and the family moved to Sacramento, California to follow him. In 1942 the family moved back to Sandy, Oregon where they purchased land, and began a strawberry farm. The family all worked on the farm where they had chickens, and a milk cow. Joyce attended Cottrell Grade School and began 2nd grade there. Joyce also attended Sandy High School.
In 1955, Joyce met Louis Linhart at a restaurant they both visited frequently; When Louis asked the waitress if she would Introduce Joyce to him. They were married April 24th, 1957 in Vancouver, Washington. Louis and Joyce made their home in Boring, where they enjoyed their life with family and friends, and began their own family. Joyce worked at a couple of restaurants in the Boring area, before beginning her Career with the Boring Post Office in 1972. Joyce worked as a Rural Letter Carrier for 25 years, before retiring in 1997.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joyce was also an avid reader, of the latest novels. One of Joyce's favorite authors was Danielle Steel.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Linhart Riedl, of Boring, Sonya Cody, of Sandy, sister Ruby Culp, of Sandy, grandchildren: DJ Linhart, of Mulino, Michael Riedl, of Boring, Jessica Buchanan, of Sandy, Kevin Riedl, of Beaverton, and Kyle Cody, of Sandy. Joyce had 2 great grandaughters that were the light of her life, Madeline and Harley. Joyce had numerous nieces and nephews, who she enjoyed spending time with.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Linhart, who passed away in 2010. They were married for 53 Years.
