Joyce Bales passed peacefully in her sleep during the night of September 16, 2012 where she was residing at Avamere in Sandy, Oregon.
There will be a Celebration of Life in honor of Joyce on Saturday, September 22nd in the banquet room at the Best Western in Sandy from 1-5 pm.
She was born, Joyce Marie to Arnold and Ida Elsa (May) Amerson on March 10, 1930 in Roswell, New Mexico. Joyce was raised in California, but spent a majority of her life in Gresham where she lived for over 30 years and raised her family.
Joyce married Welcy Bond in 1947 and divorced in 1969. She then met and married her husband Al Bales in 1972 and was widowed in 1990.
Joyce loved playing cards, slot machines, fishing and most of all, her family.
Joyce is survived by her son, John Bond of Eagle Creek and her daughters, Joan Flynn of Sandy, Diana Bond of Bellingham, Washington and Kathy Smith of Lolo, Montana. She has 5 grandchildren, Brad, Darrick, Shawn, Aaron and Sarah and 3 Great Grandchildren, Braedan, Lexie and Cameron. Her sister Diane preceded her in death. Surviving siblings are Leon, Donald, Louise and Sue all from California.
