Longtime Boring resident, Judi Puddy (Murillo) died at her home on Monday August 17, 2009 at the age of 69.
A Funeral Service was held in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
She was born, Judith Ann Johnson on May 23, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to Alex and Diane (Chudich) Johnson. She was raised in Chicago and received her schooling there. Shortly after graduating from high school, she pursued her career in the medical industry working for various physicians and offices in the Chicago area.
In 1963, Judi was married to Joe Murillo. They made their home in Chicago and began their family. In 1965, the family moved to Oregon. They made their home in Gresham and Judi worked part time at Woodland Park Hospital in Portland and raised her two children. In 1971, they moved to Boring and made their permanent home. Along with raising her family, Judi continued to work part time in the medical field. As Judi’s children got older, she returned to working full time at Hoodview Medical Center and later for Multnomah County Corrections until retiring in 1998.
In 1983, Judi and Joe were divorced.
On May 24, 1986 Judi was united in marriage to Dennis Puddy on Mt. St. Helens. They made their home in Boring where they enjoyed retirement together.
Judi touched the lives of many. She was a “rock” for many people and was someone that others would turn to if they needed a friend who would “tell them like it is”! Her home was always open to anyone in need. She loved hummingbirds and everything about them which she demonstrated by the jewelry she wore, her clothing, decorations in her home and buying them special feeders. Judi loved daisies, working in her yard, going to garage sales and going to the coast and looking through the gift shops. Spending time at the coast brought Judi a sense of peace and joy. Just a few months ago, she and Dennis purchased a home in Rockaway where she was able to spend time before her death. She and Dennis enjoyed taking cruises together until her health issues prevented her from going. Judi loved spending time outdoors and time at their cabin on Mt. St. Helens where they spent time fishing, hiking and boating. Judi also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, Reno and the Casino at Lincoln City to play the slot machines.
Judi is survived by her husband Dennis; her children Jeff Murillo of Boring, JoEllyn Fountain of Mukono, Uganda and Pam Spinazola of Chicago, Illinois; her sister, Eileen Pint of Chicago, Illinois and 2 granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Dee Guetzloff.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice.
