Julia Duncan, passed away at her home in Sandy on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. She was 87.
Julia Clara Stueve Rodrigues was born on April 25, 1928 in Axtell, Kansas to August and Marie (Johnson) Stueve. She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in May of 1952. She worked at White Sands Los Alamos in New Mexico designing missile guidance systems. She was married in 1953 and had six children. Julia was a school teacher of various grades, numerous subjects and schools as her children grew up. From 1976 until 2006 she worked for the United States Forest Service, starting as Radio Specialist and retiring as a Telecommunications Engineer.
Julia married Jim Duncan in 2002. They traveled to family reunions, naval ship reunions, hosted several family reunions, and various vacation trips and over the past twelve years. They were members of Old Smokey’s and Boxers clubs.
She was the seventh child (of eight) of August and Marie Stueve of Axtell Kansas. She is survived by her husband Jim Duncan of Sandy, Oregon; her children Connie (Rodrigues) Morris of St. George, Utah, Joe Rodrigues (Laurie) of Maple Valley, Washington, Cindy Rodrigues of Stephens City, Virginia, Becky (Rodrigues) Hesson of Austin, Texas, and John Rodrigues (Cassandra) of Sandy, Oregon, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and sister Caroline Mulhern of Beattie, Kansas and sister-in-law, Judy Stueve of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Rodrigues, 5 brothers and 1 sister and numerous in-laws.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Sandy, followed by internment at Willamette National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
