Lieutenant (ret.) Karl Nisbet- 62, passed away on Sunday July 25, 2021, at his home in Sandy, Oregon.
Karl was a long-time member of the International Fire Fighters Association Union, serving the call to duty in California, Polk County Fire District #1, Corvallis Fire Department and at Clackamas Fire District #1 in 1991 where he rose through the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer and finished his career as a Fire Lieutenant and EMT-Paramedic.
Karl was born in San Mateo, California on April 25th, 1958, to James and Karin Nisbet.
Karl found an early passion for hard work and continuous education that drove his success and leadership in the fire service.
Karl attended Chemeketa Community College and Western Oregon State College, earning degrees in Fire Science and Fire Administration as well as his Paramedic License.
In his retirement Karl enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, gunsmithing, woodworking and being out on the water. He was a good friend to those who knew him.
Karl is survived by his mother, Karin Nisbet, his son and daughter-in-law, CFD1 Firefighter James Nisbet, James’s wife Ellie and their two children Nora and Jax.
Karl will be greatly missed by those who knew and worked with him.
