In Loving Memory Of

Kathleen Leslie Spitzengel

August 17th, 1943 - June 6th, 2018

Obituary

Surrounded by her family, Kathleen Leslie Spitzengel was reunited with her beloved husband on June 6, 2018.  Kathleen “Kit” was born August 17, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Robert and Charlotte Weygandt, and was the youngest of three children.  Kit, an Oregon native, was raised in Southeast Portland.  She attended Gresham High School for 2 years, then transferred to Centennial High School being the first graduating class in  1961.  After graduating, she worked for the United States Postal Service where she met the love of her life Richard.  After meeting in the summer of 1965, they were married November 6, 1965.  Kit & Rich were married for 47 years, together they raised three sons in Rockwood, Oregon.  In 1987 they moved to Sandy, where Kit became a life member of The Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary Post 4273.  She served many years as the Senior Vice President, Auxiliary President and the Hospitality Chairman for the Department of Oregon. Kit worked as the Kitchen Manager at Firwood Elementary School, where she was known as everyone’s favorite “Lunch Lady.”  She retired after 14 years, but continued to work as a substitute until June, 2014.

Kit was an avid golfer, skilled bowler, and an overall thrill seeker.  She enjoyed reading, camping, clamming, bingo, and most recently learning to play the guitar.

Kit will be remembered as a strong, independent woman who loved her family and the adventures of life.  She is survived by her sons Robert and Ryan and their families.

She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

I'm truly sorry for the loss of your loved one. May the God of tender mercies (Psalm 83:18) comfort and strengthen you for the days to come, 2 Cor.1:3,4. Wade
My deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love in death. So I hope that reading Acts 24:15 will give you some comfort knowing that you have the hope of seeing Kathleen again in the resurrection. And may the God of tender mercies continue to less you and strengthen you through this difficult time. Mary Ann
