Former Sandy resident, Kathleen Brisco died at her daughter’s home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. She was 88.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Sandy Funeral Home followed by burial at Firhill Cemetery.
She was born Kathleen Nellie Jones to Robert M. and Lena May (Britt) in Johnson City, Tennessee on October 14, 1922. She spent her childhood in Tennessee until the family hitch-hiked their way to California.
Kathleen met and married Hank Brisco in Reno, Nevada in December 4, 1947. They lived in California until 1948 when they moved to Nyssa, Oregon. Over the years the family lived in Vancouver, Ephrata and Seattle WA before returning to Oregon. When Hank retired in 1979 he and Kathleen lived in Raleigh Hills where they managed an apartment complex together. In 1982 they moved to Sandy to make their permanent home.
Kathleen had a compassionate heart. She was a loving, caring friend to several older women over the years and would make sure to look in on them, taking care of their needs and keeping them company.
Survivors include her children, Karen Casey of Indianapolis, IN, Kathy Bashor of Happy Valley, OR, and Patty Donald of Portland, ME; sons, Stanley Brisco of Sandy, OR, Danny Champion of Moses Lake, WA, Dick Champion of Corvallis, OR, and Bill Champion of Medford, OR; brothers, Jack Jones of Cottonwood, CA and Lloyd Jones of Louisburg TN; sisters, Louise Wamble of Louisburg, TN and Evylena Hilton of Cottonwood, CA, and 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
