Keith Mahlum died January 31, 2010 at his home in Estacada. He was 63.
At his request no services will be held.
Keith Andrew Mahlum was born on January 25, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota to Andrew O. and Martha E. (Maier) Mahlum.
In 1957, the family moved to Oregon and made their home in the Portland area where Keith was raised and received his schooling. Shortly after graduating from David Douglas High School in 1965, he joined the U. S. Marine Corps and did a tour in Vietnam as a helicopter technician. He was discharged in 1969.
Keith moved back to the Portland area and worked at the Veteran’s Hospital for a time and then was hired by the U. S. Forest Service. He worked in the Gresham office before transferring to Timberline Job Corps where he worked as a computer technician.
Keith enjoyed fishing and traveling to warm sunny places that had nice beaches. Because of his love for the southern sun his nieces and nephews gave him the nickname “Chavez”.
Keith is survived by his loving partner Christell Cope of Estacada; brother, Robert D. Mahlum of California; sister, Sharon Ann Phipps of Lincoln City, OR; and 4 nieces.
Contributions in Keith’s name can be made to Doernbecker’s Children’s Hospital.
