Laura was born in Portland Oregon on January 4th, 1956 to Arabel and Lawrence Meier. She joined older brother Gale, and sisters Marijane, Sheryl, and Rosemarie at their family Dairy farm in Boring.
Laura had a love of all farm animals, and held a special place in her heart for her Brown Swiss Dairy cows; her favorite was named Heidi. She was an active 4H member, raising and showing her animals at the Clackamas County Fair, and in 1974 was crowned the Clackamas County Dairy Princess.
She attended Sandy Union High school where she met her husband David L. Morgan. David was serving in the U.S. Army when they were married July 18th, 1975 at Powell Valley Mission Covenant Church in Gresham, Oregon.
During their marriage, Laura moved where the Army sent her husband. Her two oldest sons, Matthew and Joshua, were born in Berlin, Germany. Her third son Jacob was born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her daughter Rachel was born in Sindelfingen, Germany. She enjoyed traveling through Europe during their time overseas and was living in Germany during the destruction of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
After twenty years of service, David finished his military career at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs where he retired in 1994. The family continued to make their home there until 2002 when Laura, David, and daughter Rachel moved back to Sandy.
Laura enjoyed caring for children and opened her home to babysitting a great niece and nephew, 4 foster children, and 2 of her grandchildren that live locally. She was also active in her church, sewing and crocheting quilts for expectant mothers, providing meals for other families, and attended a weekly Bible study.
She is survived by her husband David of Sandy, Son Matthew, his wife Elizabeth and their three daughters of Bolivar, MO, Son Jacob, his wife Selena and their two daughters of Zachary, LA, and Daughter Rachel Mayes, her husband Jarrett and their son and daughter of Sandy, along with brother Gale Meier and wife Sharon of Boring, and Sister Rosemarie and husband Steve of Boring.
Laura went to sleep Friday evening, and woke up in paradise to be reunited with her parents Lawrence and Arabel Meier, sisters Marijane and Sheryl, and son Joshua.
In lieu of flowers, we have opened a GoFundMe to help cover the expense of her final arrangements. The family is grateful for your prayers and support during this difficult time.
