Long time Sandy resident, LaVerne Dibble, died on November 16th, 2012 at her residence in Avamere at Sandy. Memorial Services will be held on December 8th, 2012 at 2pm in the Sandy Senior Center and November 24th, 2012 at 2pm in the Estacada Kingdom Hall.
She was born, LaVerne Elsie Hopkins, on June 24th, 1932 in Minnesota to Chester and Violet (Fisher) Hopkins. Her family moved to Clatskanie, Oregon when LaVerne was young where she graduated from Clatskanie High School. Shortly after high school, LaVerne moved to Portland in the 1950s where she worked as an aider at Good Samaritan Hospital on Northwest 22nd Ave.
LaVerne married Earl Dibble in 1956 and together they moved to Sandy, Oregon where they would make their permanent home and raise their 3 children. When the children were finishing school, LaVerne worked in the kitchen at St. Jude’s Nursing Home until retirement.
LaVerne enjoyed sewing, a good match of Chinese Checkers and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl and sisters, Verda and Berneice. She is survived by her daughters Linda Minnick and Diana Alter, her son Vern Dibble all of Sandy, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
