Toye Reynolds went to walk with the Lord Sunday, March 13th, 2011 at the age of 80, from complications of advanced Chronic Obstructed Pulmonary Disease at Hendrickson Adult Foster Care in Boring, OR.
Toye was born May 27th, 1930 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to John and Annie Johnson. She was the youngest girl in a family of six children. Her childhood years were spent spanning the states between Oklahoma and Oregon as her family worked their way to the Northwest. She picked everything from cotton to strawberries along the way. Toye attended Cottrell Grade School and Sandy High School when the family became settled in the Sandy area. At age 16 she married Printus “Jim” Wilson and they had five children. After divorcing, she was re-married to Ralph Reynolds and they also had five children. Together she and Ralph raised their first nine children and worked a 40 acre berry farm in Cottrell. Many busy days were spent driving tractors, walking berry rows, riding on picking machines and chasing her children…..mostly chasing her children! At age 42 she again was blessed with a baby girl, number ten. After Ralph passed away in 1973 she moved to her residence in Boring, where she lived until she moved into assisted care. Toye lived with her caregiver Becky for 5 years.
Her hobbies included bowling, cooking and playing dice games with friends and family. 10,000 was her dice game of choice.
She was preceded in death by Ralph, three children: Sherrie, LouAnn and Jim, Parents John and Annie, Brothers: Johnny, Otis, Dave and Sister Billy. Also two grandchildren: Mathew and Billy.
Celebrating and honoring her life are her children: Barbara Grimsley, Sandra Banjoff, Steve Wilson, Rosie Ponder, Karen Founds, Theresa Reynolds and Wendy Reynolds-Williams. From this amazing woman came 34 Grandchildren, 55 Great Grandkids and 15 Great-great Grandchildren with more on the way. Many, many more adopted children and grandchildren also blessed her life.
Services will be held Thursday, March 17th at 11:30 a.m. at the Beavercreek United Church of Christ 23345 S Beavercreek Road, Beavercreek, OR 97004. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall at the same location, with burial at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery to follow.
