Sandy resident, Linda Austree Moon, died on July 16, 2017 at home in Sandy surrounded by family. She was 81.
Linda Austree Hamar was born on April 30, 1936 in Siletz, Oregon to Austree and Elden Hamar.
Linda loved family and cherished the gatherings, whether small family brunches or large Hamar reunions. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and made several trips to Norway to connect with family. They made lefse together as a family tradition each year for Christmas.
Linda was active in Clackamas County youth groups, 4-H, and volunteered for several years at the Clackamas County Fair 4-H Hall. She helped with cooking, sewing, and knitting displays. Linda worked as a bookkeeper for the Boring Water District for many years until retiring.
Linda loved to tell the stories of the family, past and present. Even in her last days she shared with hospice workers tales of growing up on the Siletz River in the 30's and 40's as the only girl with 3 older brothers.
She was loved as “Grandma Linda” to friends of all ages and she leaves an empty place in our lives that will be impossible to fill.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Moon, her brother Neil Hamar, children Karyn (Moon) Williams and Brad Moon, 6 grandchildren (Kevin, Mandy, Alex, Mark, Kendra, and Violet) and 3 great-grandchildren (Connor, Emmanuelle, and Kenny).
