Linda Kay (Hawthorne) Summers

June 6, 1946 to February 29 2020

Linda was born in Shell Lake Wisconsin to Vale and Mildred Lois (Lewis) Hawthorne She was the youngest of 4 children.

Loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Linda Summers passed peacefully at home in Boring on Saturday February 29, 2020. She was 73 years old.

She joined the Gresham Police Department in 1973 as the Parking Control Officer before advancing her career and becoming the Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Gresham.  She retired in 2001 after 27 years with the City of Gresham. In her retirement she loved baking, gardening (especially her beautiful dahlia's), throwing awesome 4th of July picnics, camping & fishing with friends & family and being a part of the Route 26 Car club with her husband. They had several beautiful vintage cars they showed and received several trophy's which she was very proud of.

She loved music and loved to dance. She loved the Oregon Coast and everything patriotic. Linda loved our Country and she was fierce in her protection of all family members.  Her smile and laugh could light up a room.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents Vale and Mildred, as well as her brothers Norman and Gerald Hawthorne & Step Sister Mary Ann.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Blanton (Pete) Summers of Boring; her children: Craig Lewis Trimble and his wife Leesa of Boring, Candie Elizabeth (Trimble) White and her husband Mike of Gresham, Her step-children: Shannon Summers and Mike Summers. Grandchildren; Andrew Trimble, Daniel Trimble, Christopher Trimble, Brydon Vaylon, Kaylynne Vaylon, Sydney White and Elizabeth White, great-grandchildren Landin Bird, Mikah Trimble, Sofia Trimble, Alexander Trimble and Paisley Morris. Her sister Lois, Gail Hawthorne and her step-brothers Paul, John (Jack), Step sisters Francy, Jeanne & Patty.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 9, 2020 at 1:00pm at Sandy Funeral Home 39551 Pleasant St, Sandy OR 97055. A reception will follow the service at the Mountain View Golf Course 27195 SE Kelso RD, Boring OR 97009.  A private burial will be on March 12, 2020 at Willamette National Cemetery. Linda and I worked together at the City of Gresham when she was Code Enforcement Officer. Smart, honest, dependable, held herself to a high standard.
One thing for sure........she could hold her own.........no problem. Great sense of humor and respected by many......including me. I wish the family and especially Pete wonderful memories and peaceful heart knowing life does not end here.
